ISLAMABAD, Jul 22 (APP):Federal Minister for Power Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari on Monday said that the government is taking all possible measures to bring reforms in power sector to reduce tariff rate.
“Reforms in power sector is imperative to bring electricity tariff rate at affordable price, “ he said while talking to a private television channel.
“We are reviewing the agreements made by the previous governments with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), “ he said. There is also need to reduce capacity payments, he added.
Leghari said, it is the top most priority of the government to lower burden from consumers of electricity and for this, all necessary steps are being taken to achieve the objectives.
